Wow. I’m sad to see the state that Antioch has gotten to, but I’m so grateful that people are still fighting. I wish I could afford to donate right now.

I’m glad the Antioch flame is being kept alight, but I’m disgusted at the problems that lead to this. The trustees from the university (the sister school started by the college, which later took power)have made no secret of their intent to Abolish the current political culture at the school.
The former president of the college, installed by the trustees, was an outspoken opponent of student government and uncensored press, and was known to walk into the Antioch Record (school newspaper) and demand an article be modified or edited to fit his version of things whenever problems were to be discussed about the leadership.
Multiple events such as this, as well as the systematic destruction or closing of any and all buildings where “politically active” students congregated caused many students to give up and leave, and free spirited prospective students to think twice about their initial perspective on Antioch’s activist culture.
The straw that breaks the camel’s back as far as I’m concerned was the board’s original insistence that the alumni raise X million dollars to keep the school open, and then subsequent reversal on the deal once the alumni found the cash. It’s far too obvious to me and the other students that Antioch in its prior form will never be what it once was until new leadership consistent with the mindset of the Antioch spirit is installed.
